Beginning
Now that this game has released in the USA, I needed to let you know something. This walkthrough is still 100% accurate!!! WOW! They didn't even change the CheatCodes!!! For now, here's a Key of the new City Names in the USA Version:This game is entirely different from all the other Pokémon games so far. Before you actually begin your game, you will notice one of the changes already. The game will ask you to enter your current time. Then, throughout the game, certain Pokémon will only appear on certain days, or during night or day. So time plays a big role in what Pokémon you meet in the game! You start out in the small town of New Bark Town in your upstairs bedroom. When you make your way downstairs, you will meat your character's mother. She will ask you what Day it currently is. After telling her, you will receive the GEAR. This GEAR menu is where you will check your Map, your Radio, and now, a Cell Phone. Throughout the game you will meet people that give you their phone numbers. You don't have to memorize them, they are stored in the GEAR. You can then call them, or they may be trainers calling you to challenge you to another fight. Only problem with this is, every time you open your menu, you might get another call. This gets annoying.**<< ----------------------------------- >>****<< How to stop the annoying calls! >>** If you want to stop the calls, go into your GEAR Menu, and select the Cell Phone. Then hit your button to select a name you want to delete. It will actually be asking you if you want to CALL that person. When you select to CALL the person, a sub-menu appears with the option to DELETE! Select to Delete, and your woes are OVER!**<< ----------------------------------- >>**Now, find you way next door to your house, to the lab of Professor Elm. You do not meet Professor Oak right away in this game. Professor Elm will offer you your choice of 1 of three Pokémon, just like in the other games. Only this time, you don't choose amon Bulbasaur, Charmander, or Squirtle. Instead, you choose from one of the 3 following Pokémon. I have rated these based on their difficulty level at the first 2 Gyms.Your First Selected Pokemon#152:ChikoritaDifficulty: Hard #155:HinoarashiDifficulty: Easy #158:WaninokoDifficulty: Medium   Once you have made your decision, Professor Oak will phone you and tell you to meet him at the small town of Cherrywood Grove. Now, you are off on your New Pokémon Adventure! When you first enter the city, talk to the old man near the entrance. He will give you a tour of the town if you say YES to him. Follow him to his house and he will give you the first Map card for GEAR. Go into the other houses to find another man who will give you your first Spirit Fruit (Berries in USA version).Spirit Fruits can be found all throughout the game in large flowers, trees, etc, and can be equipped to your Pokémon for use during battle. You can also use them manually from your BAG. Each Fruit has a different property. Some heal, some cure poison or paralysis, and others protect. Now, head North of town. There you will find a path blocked by a Pokémon Battle. Head East from there to Mr Pokemon's cottage. Professor Oak is here and will give you a new and improved Pokédex. The Elder here will also give you an Egg. After resting at the cottage, Professor Elm will phone you and tell you that something terrible has happened in Wakaba, so head back there! However, on your way, a Mysterious Trainer stops you from heading East from Cherrywood Grove. Later you get to name him. I called him Gin. Gin will soon be known as your Arch Enemy in this game! He then attacks you with one of the other three Pokémon from Professor Elm's Lab.When he attacks you here, his Pokémon is only on Level 5, and will always be the opposite Pokémon Type as what you chose, so it should be easy for you to defeat. Such as if you chose Hinoarashi, then he will have Waninoko. After beating him, head to New Bark Town, and talk to Professor Elm. Professor Elm tells you that the trainer you met in Cherrywood Grove stole one of his Pokémon! A police officer there will ask you to name the trainer. It is here that you can change the name of your Rival to whatever you wish. There is no other purpose for this, as the police NEVER catch him. Throughout the Walkthrough I will now refer to him only as RIVAL or Gin, which means enemy. As you leave the Lab, you will get 5 Pokéballs from the last Scientist there. And once outside, a trainer will greet you enthusiastically, and ask if he can show you how to catch a Pokémon with your new Pokéballs! Now, off to Violet City!! (Of course you will want to start catching some new Pokémon for your team on the way!)
